Our total sum equals one Mexican and one American. Two countries, two cultures, one girl, and one boy are sharing life and ministry together as one. We both live in Tijuana, Mexico reaching out and being a part of this city, as well as being a part of raising up people in the YWAM community to go out to all countries to show Jesus’ love to all.
Giezi Nino-
Age: 26
What He Loves: Jesus, Amanda, His Family, Soccer, Leading Worship, and Jeeping
Giezi has been serving with Youth With a Mission for the last 5 years. His heart is to see young people experience the love of God and see freedom come into their lives. His main ministry focus is to lead Discipleship Training Schools at the Tijuana, Mexico location. Many students come every year with a desire to learn more about who God is and seek to find their ministry and healing from past life experiences. Giezi finds it a great pleasure to be a part of such an incredible time in the lives of these individuals and is constantly overwhelmed by the work that God does during the 5 months school. Many of these students move into missions full time, as well as return to all different aspects of society with a new foundation.
Along with leading this school, Giezi works with local community ministries that the Tijuana location runs on a regular basis. He is a part of leading worship, translating for speakers and ministries, connecting with local pastors, and house building.
Amanda-
Age: 30 (aka: cougar)
What She Loves: Jesus, Giezi, Her Family, Dancing, Going to the Lake, Movies, Singing, and Teaching
Amanda has been serving with Youth With a Mission for the past 3 years. Her main focus at the Tijuana campus is running the Children at Risk School. This school is for students that have gone through a DTS in Youth With a Mission and desire specific training to work with children that are at risk, weather that means, abuse, poverty, prostitution, or any other risk. Around 60% of ministries that start for children at risk fail within the first 2 years because of circumstances that can be avoided. These students come from different nations to hear from speakers that are trained in ministry and are a part of successful ministries all over the world. After three months of lectures, the students have an optional 3-6 months field assignment where they can go and learn from other ministry workers in the field. For more information on the school, visit: http://childrenatriskschool.com
Along with leading and preparing this school, Amanda is working to pioneer ministry for children in the Tijuana’s Zona Norte. There are several risks that children in this area face as it is high in crime, prostitution, drugs, and poverty. She also serves with other youth and children’s ministry that the Tijuana campus runs weekly.
